I Woke Up to Find More Snow

Well, here it is the 5th of March and I woke up this morning to find the ground covered in more snow. Yesterday was freezing rain and sleet and overnight it snowed. Doesn’t Mother Nature know that it is March! Spring is only a couple of weeks away and we are looking forward to daffodils and crocus blooming.

My little friend here decided to peek his head out of the snow and tell me he is ready for some warmer weather as well. He is what I call one of my garden guardians. I have many of these little creatures in my flower beds to give me someone to talk to while I am taking care of my flowers during the warmer months. Yes, I do talk to them, but the conversations are usually a little one sided!

The birds are mad too! I didn’t get my bird feeder filled up yesterday and now they are having to scurry around on the ground underneath it, looking for fallen sunflower seeds. This male cardinal doesn’t look too pleased and the chickadees are sitting on the feeder, tapping on it to see if they can get any more seeds to fall out. I think that is also how they tell me that the feeder is empty! I will get outside in a few minutes to fill it back up.

The squirrels aren't too pleased either. They are having to dig under the snow covered leaves to find those acorns they buried earlier in the year. I am pretty sure I heard this little guy cursing as he was trying to find his breakfast!

Well, here is hoping that this is the last of the snow for this season. I admit I am tired of being cooped up in the house and ready to get back outside and work in the yard. I think I am even looking forward to moving the grass, but don’t tell hubby that!

Just Wandering Around Taking Pictures

Male Cardinal
Source: sgbrown-Rockcreek Photography

This is a beautiful male cardinal. This good-looking little guy was perched outside, waiting his turn at my bird feeder.  He just caught my eye, he is so bright red!  I probably took 20 pictures of him while he was flitting around on that tree.  This is the best one.

Tufted Titmouse

This perky little guy is a Tufted Titmouse. They are common in Oklahoma and really common around my bird feeder.  He and the cardinal above, try to run each other off from the bird feeder outside my window.  The cardinal usually wins.

Fox-Tail Squirrel

This little fuzzy tailed squirrel was just waiting for me to leave, so he could scare off all the birds and have the sunflower seeds to himself.  The funny thing is, he has to get them off the ground, as Johnny fixed the bird feeder so the squirrels can't get on it!

White Tailed Deer

This is a beautiful white-tailed deer.  These are three doe, females.  These three girls were on their way to the pond, just behind them, when I came along. They were frightened at first, but once I got very still, they we not as afraid and went on their way.

My Fall Photography Collection

I love photography and one of my favorites times of year is fall.  There are so many beautiful colors in the landscape and the air is crisp and cool!  Here are a few pictures I have taken this fall.

Turner Falls Park

This pictures was taken at Turner Falls Park in Davis, Oklahoma.  This is one of my favorite places to go in the fall.  This is a creek that runs through the park and eventually over the falls.

Turner Falls Park

This is actually a small cave opening that is covered in moss, with a little waterfall gently streaming over top.  No, I didn't try to crawl into the cave, who knows what may be in there!

Turner Falls Park

This is the front view of the previous picture.  The little cave is just out of sight to the right. This was such a relaxing place, I could have stayed all day!

Turner Falls

This is Turner Falls. Below the falls is the "swimming hole".  I'm not sure how deep it is, but there are always lots of children swimming.  With the sounds of the waterfall and the beautiful fall colors, this was just a wonderful outing.

8-Point White-Tailed Buck

This beautiful white-tailed buck is running across the meadow on  our place. This meadow is just to the south of our house and I took this pictures off our back porch.

Autumn Leaves

I just loved the color of these leaves. I can't decide if they are copper, gold or orange.

I hope you enjoyed some of my fall pictures. You can purchase these and more at
